Pakistan’s automotive landscape has witnessed a dramatic shift following the implementation of the Finance Act 2025, which has introduced sweeping reforms to import duties on vehicles. Backed by new Statutory Regulatory Orders (SROs), the government has revised the overall incidence of duties on imported vehicles—leading to a notable decline in retail prices, particularly in the high-end SUV segment.

Key Policy Changes Driving Price Reductions

The latest fiscal reforms have lowered several critical duties:

  • Customs Duty (CD)

  • Regulatory Duty (RD)

  • Additional Customs Duty (ACD) – reduced from 7% to 6%

While earlier announcements focused on the percentage reductions, the actual impact is now visible in the resale market, especially for premium used SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, LC200, Prado LC150, and Lexus LX570/LX600.

What This Means for Buyers and the Market

The new budget measures are making luxury SUVs significantly more affordable for importers, dealers, and high-net-worth individuals. More importantly, the price adjustments signal:

  • Greater accessibility of high-end imported vehicles

  • A shift towards transparent import practices

  • Reduced reliance on grey channels and amnesty schemes

With legitimate imports now more cost-effective, the auto market may experience a surge in documented imports, helping formalize the sector while offering better value to end consumers.

Whether you're a dealership, a car enthusiast, or a potential investor, these substantial price reductions offer both buying opportunities and strategic market insights. As the impact of Budget 2025–26 unfolds, the used SUV segment is clearly one to watch.
